Your Ordeal - Your Ordeal

WELCOME TO THE ORDEAL!

The Lodge is looking forward to having you join us at the first Ordeal available.  You can get all of the dates from the calendar.  By clicking on one of them, it will take you to the online registration.  Here is what you need to bring:

Physical: A Class 1 physical.  You can download the form by clicking here.

Ordeal Sash

registration:  You can register for the Ordeal you want here.

Camping Equipment: The following equipment and camping gear:

a.  Sleeping Bag and Ground cloth

b.  Scout Uniform

c.  Work Clothes and work gloves

d.  Any medications that you need to take

e.  Canteen or water bottle

f.   Clothes need due to weather like poncho

g.   Pack frame or duffel bag

h.   personal articles such as soap, towel, toothbrush, etc.

Check in:  Plan on checking in at the Ordeal site between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. of the date of the ordeal - usually this will be a Friday.

Pick Up: You will be through about 6:00 p.m. the next evening - Saturday for most Ordeals.

Agenda: The Ordeal will consist of a special campfire on Friday night.  You will be given a place to sleep and placed on silence for the 24 hour period.  The next day you will be involved in service in and around the Ordeal site.  It will be service that needs to be done at the camp or for the civic organization where we are holding the Ordeal.  You will be on silence during this period of time.  Meals will be provided and you are not allowed to bring any food.  If you need special foods or medications during the Ordeal, please note that on your medical form or email the lodge officer in charge of Ordeals.  At the conclusion of the Ordeal you will attend a final campfire where your sash will be presented and you will be formally inducted as a member of the OA.   There will be no hazing or similar activities at the Ordeal.  It is a time for you to reflect on you commitment to Scouting and to make some personal commitments.

Registration:  Registration for the Ordeal must be in at least 3 days in advance.  There is no registration at the door.

Refunds:  If you can't make it your fee can be transferable to another Ordeal.  No refunds less than 7 days before the event.  Please contact the Lodge Adviser if you have a question.

Leaving Early:  It is impossible to leave early or to leave for another event during the Ordeal with the intention of coming back.  If you cannot make the full experience register for one that you can attend.

Trading Post: At each Ordeal there is a Trading Post at the end where various Lodge and OA items such as patches, handbooks, shirts, etc. are for sale.  These items are only sold to members at OA functions.

Ceremony Attendance: Attendance at the Ceremony  is only for members.  If you have an older brother or other relative who is a member, they may attend.  Photos are permitted if they do not interfere with the Ceremony.  Parents or Religious leaders who are interested in the aspects of the Ceremony are invited to contact the Lodge Adviser.
